Ninos de la Amazonia:  Board of Directors

Amy Coplan is founder of the Ninos de la Amazonia project and President of ninosdelaamazonia.org.  She is an accomplished pianist having performed extensively in and around the New York area in various genres and venues including pianist for the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular.  She is on the artist faculty at the Greenwich House Music School in New York City and has been an adjunct Professor of Music at Kean University.  She created the music department at County Prep High school where she presently teaches and heads the department. 


Julie Salamon is an award-winning author of numerous books including the recent New York Times best-seller, Wendy and the Lost Boys and the New York Times best-seller, The Christmas Tree which has been translated into eight languages.  She was a reporter and film critic for The Wall Street Journal for many years, then a culture write of The New York Times.  Her journalism has appeared in The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Bazaar and The New Republic.  She has been an adjunct professor at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.  She is chair of the BRC, a social services organization in New York City that operates 26 programs throughout New York, with a 2010 budget of $48 million and 494 full-time and 24 part-time employees and over 500 volunteers.


Mark Wilson is a multi-platinum music producer and songwriter and an accomplished musician who is CEO of his own entertainment company.  As CEO, he generates and allocates budgets, tracks and recognizes market trends, finding the perfect fit for the product and marketplace.  Since 2003, he has been involved in an urban mentorship program for pre-teen girls, guiding their social, academic and career choices.  He is presently engaged in a partnership to create a similar urban mentorship program for boys under sixteen years of age based on this successful model. 


Yony Arad is the Integrated Marketing Strategy Director DDB - an ad agency headed by filmmaker Spike Lee, with the backing of global advertising giant, DDB.  Yony leads all digital efforts and adds marketing science to the creative mix.  His professional experience includes work with companies such as Scholastic, Unilever, Pepsi, Johnson & Johnson, and Chevrolet.  Yony is also a guest lecturer at the City College of New York, helping musicians and music industry professionals promote themselves in the digital age.
